PRODUCTION

Composition of FASSCO Fibrecement Panels

Back-coating for the stabilisation of the panel, balancing atmospheric differences between the front and back of the panel. A film of water impermeable polymer, applied as emulsion paint with subsequent film formation by elevated temperature.

Board the backbone. A multi-layer cement bonded composite, each layer being reinforced by a blend of refined cellulose and durable, high strength textile polymer fibres (PVA).

Adhesion primer to smoothen the board surface to close its micro-porosity and to prepare the substrate for the following paint layers. A highly filled water based emulsion paint, applied by roller and cured at elevated temperatures.

Decorative layer, providing plain colour, multi-colour, metallic looks, light effects when the colour of reflective light changes the different angles of observation and printed digital files. A water-based, pure acrylic, high polymer emulsion paint, coloured with inorganic or mineral pigments, inorganic inks that are cured at elevated temperatures for film formation.

CLP Shield to enhance the durability of the entire coating system, easy to clean and protecting the decorative layer against damage by mechanical abrasion or vandalism by wall graffiti. A solvent-free, acrylic co-polymer resin, hardened by cross-linked polymer molecules under energetic UV radiation.

CLP Shield

Decorative coatings on FASSCO panels are highly durable and weather resistant. An essential contribution to this performance is due to the transparent top-cop we call “CLP Shield”, that acts as a protective shield against UV/IR radiation from the sunlight as well as against various physical damages. CLP is a harder and more scratch resistant option than any acrylic emulsion paint coating that one can use. Due to its chemical structure, CLP is chemically resistant, easy-to-clean, even after vandalism by graffiti sprays. These exceptional properties make FASSCO panels particularly suitable for public and high-wear areas.

This top-coat consists of an acrylic co-polymer resin that develops hardness and water resistance by crosslinking its molecules to a strong network. Applied as liquid resin pain, the liquid hardens by chemical readioation that is initiated by UV light. The surface finish of the top-coat can be influed by the control the radiation energy to give a matt or gloss effect to the final product.

Benefits
  • General advice on VCW facade systems (design, advantages, areas of application, materials,
    calculation models etc.)
  • Water impermeable – No liquid penetration or mold formation
  • Anti-bacterial – easy to clean with chemicals
  • Solvent resistant – Easy-cleaning even with chemicals or water pressure.
  • Offers prolongues service life of the product.

All FASSCO products protected by the CLP Shield will always be labelled with the following icon:

Colour and Design Matching

Because of the route we have taken of working with small production runs in the manufacturing stage, this enables us to also custom create and tailor more towards our customer’s needs.

One of these tailoring services we provide is the ability to colour and design match paints and images.

Paint
Our labs can colour match samples provided with our equipment to be able to give our customers exactly the colour they have envisioned.

Design
Our experienced digital design department can custom create files to your specification. These might range from a logo that you would like to print for the side of a building or images that need to be arranged as a seamless creation so that when different boards meet, the design flows seamlessly from one panel to the next.
Furthermore, Our industrial scanner allows us to imitate flat substrates with a thickness up to 30mm and create a photocopy in a resolution of 800 dpi. An expensive Italian marble can be scanned, allowing to save costs of the project while retaining the quality envisioned.

Quality Control – QC

FASSCO panels are manufactured within the scope of the quality management system of FASSCO Corporation Co., Ltd. Taking into account the recommendations of the International Quality Management Standards ISO 9001, the manufacturing process follows a detailed description of all raw materials, individual process steps and their relevant parameters.

Particular attention is given to the product quality control and documentation of product properties and deviations from specifications.

This includes:

  • Inspection and characterisation of raw boards
  • Reception tests for paints
  • Quantity of applied paint layers (layer thickness)
  • Paint drying and film formation of coating
  • Colour measurement
  • Clp matt/gloss measurements
  • Inspection for visible defects (e.g. pinholes or inclusions)

Small size samples of coated panels are taken by batch or project. They are kept as reference over the entire warranty period.

Certifications

Facade Corporation Co., Ltd. declares that FASSCO panels fulfill the requirements as defined by the European Standard EN 12467 (fibrecement flat sheets) and can be used for internal and external wall cladding, ceiling finishes, flooring, including rainscreen panels in ventilated facades.

Facade Corporation Co., Ltd. issues a Declaration of Performance that refers to certification by independent notified bodies in Germany, i.e. KIWA, MPA Bautest GmbH (0770) for the determination of product type (raw board for FASSCO panels) and materialprufamt NRW (0432) for the reaction to fire of the coated panels.

Raw boards for FASSCO panels are manufactured by Swisspearl GmbH, Germany, according to certified management systems for Quality ISO 9011, Environment ISO 14001 and Occupational Health and Safety OHSAS 18001.

In analogy to equivalent boards coated by Swisspeal, the Facade Corporation Co., Ltd. applied the engineering parameters for installation of FASSCO panels in ventilated facades as defined and published by the German Building Authority DIBt in the Certificate Z-31.4-183.

Substructure

The substructure transmits the load of the cladding itself and the wind-load to the enclosing external wall (load-bearing wall). Metal sub-structures are generally used as these can compensate for tolerances in the shell construction. Most systems consist of a two-part construction, which is fastened to the supporting external wall using anchors. This base construction is aligned plba and flush and acts as a support for installing a variety of facading cladding materials

The sub-structure system must be designed in such a way that materials used can expand due to temperature changes without creating stresses in the structure. For example, when using aluminium profiles with a length of approx. 3m, an expansion of 5mm must be taken into account.

So-called fix points/sliding points structures are often used for this purpose.

The bracket used has the following functions:

Acts as a fix point for screwing the profiles into position in the round hole – the profile is fixed transmission of own weight and wind-loads.

Acts as a sliding point for screwing the profiles into position in the slot holes – the profile slides in the slot holes allowing the transmission of stresses from forces such as wind-loads.

Anchoring

Facade anchors approved by the building authorities must be used to anchor the cladding construction to the supporting external wall. The optimum anchors are selected for use in each project based on considerations such as the materials used in the construction of the supporting external wall and the prevailing loads. For fibrecement facades, the most commonly used anchors are plastic anchors with galvanized screws.

Generally, a distinction is made between the following types of anchors:
